A few years ago, I stumbled upon this peculiar empty shell stuck to the underside of a leaf near my fish pond…and as with most peculiar things I stumble upon, I took a picture of it. Had no idea what it was, until I saw a show on NatGeo a year later about cyclical cicada emergences.
